Dr. Don Boyd, age 62, of St. John, passed away at his home Sunday, November 29, 2009, with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda; five children: Mark (Melody) Boyd of Alabaster, AL; Dawn (Chris) Moncado of Demotte, IN; Trina (David) Reynolds of St. John, IN; Amber (Matt) Richards of Fishers, IN; and Luke Boyd of St. John,IN; 14 grandchildren: Skylin, Greyson, Taylor, Collin, Seth, Eden, Jaclyn, Brittany, Amber, David, Madison, Steven, Linda and Aurora; two sisters: Lois (late Don) Beckelheimer of Milford, OH, and Madonna (Jerry) Pinkerton of Chillicothe, OH; and one brother, Douglass Boyd of Chillicothe, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Main Auditorium, 473 Sibley, Hammond, Indiana. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, December 3rd from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). Don was a graduate of Midwestern Baptist College of Pontiac, Michigan, and of Hyles-Anderson College, in Crown Point, Indiana. He was employed by Hammond Baptist Schools for 34 years, first teaching Bible in the junior high, then serving as vice-principal of the high school. Don served as principal of Hammond Baptist High School from 1991 until 2008, when he joined the staff at First Baptist Church as Special Care Pastor. Don and his wife, Linda, have been faithful members of First Baptist Church since 1972, where Don was the teacher of the Sonrise Adult Sunday School Class.
